My whole life I have resided in a small town in Colorado, growing up wasn't always easy for me. My father left my mom when I was just four years old leaving her to raise me and my two older siblings alone. My mother worked two jobs to support us so we were mostly home with just each other. 

Being the youngest sibling in the house I am the last to leave. My older sister, Sabrina lives in Georgia as a lawyer with her fiancé and two year old daughter Ella. On the other hand my older brother Sawyer remains living in Colorado perusing football at the nearest University. 

"Mom I'm finished packing the taxi will be here in an hour" I shout down the hallway while dragging my suitcase full of everything I'll be taking with me to start my life in Florida. 

I decided to go to Florida State when I was thirteen after hearing my best friend, Kambrie talking about it for hours. It was then we decided we would move to Florida together to live out the college experience. Kambrie comes from a very wealthy family who owns a beach house only minutes from the university, which they have offered to let us reside there while we go to school. Her family has always treated me as another daughter and took me in as their own after seeing my moms struggle. 

"Saige I'm so proud of you my sweet girl. I don't know what I'm gonna do with you so far away from home" my mom says pulling me into a tight hug. 

"Mom don't worry you'll do just fine, I'll call and visit every chance I can" I assure her not wanting her to feel as if this is it. I grew up very close to my mom unlike my sister and brother. My mom was really the only parent I knew, my dad kept in contact for a few years after leaving us but it's been over six years since the last conversation we had. 

My phone rings and I pick it up reading the name on the screen "hey kam are you all packed and ready to go!" I say in excitement. "Okay I'll see you soon, bye!" I hang up the phone and gather the rest of my belongings. "Mom the taxi is here, it's time" I smile giving her one last hug. "Promise to keep in touch with me Saige and let me know when your flight lands. I love you" my mom tells me as tears form in her eyes. "I will mom don't worry, I love you too" I smile at her and make my way outside where the taxi and Kambrie are waiting. I load my suitcases and bags into the trunk of the taxi noticing there's not much room after Kam put all her stuff inside. I shut the trunk and enter the backseat of the car. 

"Florida State here we come bitchess" kam squeals while waving her hands in the air causing a laugh from me. We arrive at the airport and gather our stuff from the taxi, making our way to the security check. After what feels like hours of being in line we finally make it to the gate and it's time for our flight to take off. We board the plane and sit in our selected seats, thankfully I'm by the window unlike kam who is squeezed in the middle of me and this guy who is humming obnoxiously. 

I watch out the window as the plane takes off as I connect my phone to my AirPods selecting a playlist and pressing play. As I look at the view from the window I begin to drift away into a much needed sleep. 

"Saige! Saige! We're here! You've slept for hours get up!" Kambrie shouts at me as she shakes me awake. "Okay okay, I'm up" I exclaim pushing her hands away so she stops shaking me. We exit the plane and collect our bags, kam is searching the airport for her older brother Kaden who is supposed to pick us up and bring us to the beach house. "Kaden where the hell are you, we're at the airport looking for you" Kambrie shouts into her phone. "Are you kidding me, how do you forget about us at the airport!" She yells hanging up the phone. "Well looks like we're stuck here until he decides to show up" I say annoyed from the lack of care her brother has. 

Thirty minutes later Kaden finally shows up to pick us up from the airport. We get in his car, and Kambrie immediately starts arguing with him for completely forgetting about us. I haven't seen Kaden for two and a half years and a lot has changed about him. He's cold, silent, covered in tattoos and even more an ass now then what he was in high school. Although Kaden has always had a soft side but now he just seems cold and angry. 

The car ride to the beach house is very silent which is honestly amazing. I'm beyond tired from the long trip here even though I slept through most of it. I just wanna get to the house and take a hot shower. We arrive to the house and it's a two story building with a white exterior. The porch has a seating area, a minibar and to the right is a staircase that leads down to the pool deck. Not far from the house is the beach, the sunset is painted with beautiful colors. 

I grab my stuff out the car and walk into the house following Kambrie upstairs. She points to the first door on the left "this is my room" she then points to the door on the right "this is your room and the room next to yours is Kadens" she explains. Wait- did she just say kadens room, he lives here too? I mean I should've assumed that, since it is their parents house. I walk into my room, the walls are a light grey, my bed is against the back wall, there's a tv on the left corner, to the right there's a door which leads to my bathroom and closet. I sit my bags on the floor and lay across the bed staring at the ceiling. I pick up my phone to text my mom letting her know I made it to Florida. Tomorrow I have to go pick up my schedule, and do a little bit of shopping. 

It's a little after 5:00 so I decide to shower and get ready for bed. I change into a oversized T-shirt and some Nike pros after showering. I reach into my bag and pull out my favorite romance novel "it ends with us" by Colleen Hoover. I open the book continuing from the last page I had marked. After reading a few chapters I fall asleep under the warm cozy bed spread. 

"Saige" someone calls out from the hallway, my door is pushed open "Saige, dinner is ready" Kaden whispers but I don't budge. He walks in my room grabbing my book and setting it on the bedside table. "Colleen Hoover is still your favorite huh, goodnight saige" he whispers while turning off the light and softly shutting the door.
