Kadens POV:
The week with Saige has finally ended; the fantasy life with her is over, and I'm back to my misery with Jade.
I drop Sige off and head back to where my bitch of an ex-girlfriend is holding me hostage.
I try to drive as slowly as possible to avoid the inevitable of going back to her, but I hate moving slowly.
Before I know it, I'm walking inside the house, where I'm met instantly with screaming.
"Kaden, where the fuck have you been" Jade screams while holding her calling child
I honestly feel bad for her; she's sweet and innocent with a disgusting whore of a mother.
"business trip, as I already told you, Jade," I reply dryly while taking the child from her arms.
I don't intend to be this child's pretend dad, but I refuse to allow Jade to completely scar this child by screaming in her ear.
Holding the baby, Kiara, who is a little over a year I quickly soothe her and place her in her crib, ensuring I close the door as I leave the room.
I walk into the small dining area, grabbing a glass of whiskey.
I sit at the table, lost in my thoughts. When will this ever end?
"Jade," I sternly demand her presence.
She walks into the dining area with a sly smirk on her face. I can only imagine what she's thinking.
"sit. Now" I demand, not wanting to waste any more time.
" I will no longer be putting up with this bullshit, Jade. You will never be my wife or anything more than a disgusting whore that I wish I'd never met," I tell her with no emotion.
"w-what the fuck” Jade cries out
"Your poor child is going to live in misery because of you, and I can only hope the father finds out and takes her away from you and never looks back." I continue to banter with her.
At this point, she's full-on crying, and I find it laughable. Jade could've had the best life, but she decided to get knocked up by some rando and leave everything behind.
"When will it end, Jade? How much longer do I have to live in misery with you? Why can't you pack your shit and go back to wherever the fuck you were?" I raise my voice just enough to make her jump
"f-fine Kaden. Fuck you. If that's what you want, but just know when Saige gets hurt, I don't wanna hear you crying like a little bitch” Jade yells across the table.
"yeah, I've already thought about all that, Jade. Go ahead and tell the gang. I promise you will be the first to die. They've always had eyes for you, and I promise they don't care who it is as long as I surrender one." I smirk, watching her face become filled with instant fear
I walk away from the table, quite tired of this conversation. All she ever does is cry. It's pretty pathetic for someone who tried to threaten me out of all people.
"Jade, Jade, Jade, you thought id just bow down to you like a bitch? I'll give you a month to figure out where you will go, and after your time is up, I will leave. If you're not gone, I will trade you to the Los Rapids, and you never see sweet Kiara again."
Her face instantly drops.
"Fuck you, Kaden. When did you turn so cold?" her voice breaks as she cries out.
Laughter fills the room.
"I don't know, Jade, maybe when you disappeared off the face of the earth and came back to tell me you got pregnant while we were together, then proceeded to make me fucking leave my GIRL," I shout.
She's left standing speechless; I get up and walk out of the room and into the bedroom I've been staying in
I pick up my phone and click on Saige's name, pressing the call button
It rings once, twice, and then goes to voice mail
What the fuck?
I call Kam next, and her phone rings a few times, but she never picks up
I am becoming apprehensive at this point
I storm outside, get in the car, and speed to the beach house.
I swing the door open, which was left unlocked, and rush into the house.
A glance and I spot both of the girls sleeping on the couch with about ten mimosa glasses lying around the table
I gently pick Saige up to bring her upstairs to her bed.
"Kaden?" a small whisper from Saige can barely be heard.
"yes, baby, I'm here."
She doesn't say anymore. She snuggles her head into the crook of my neck.
We make it to her room, and I lay her on the bed, tucking her under the blanket.
I get into the bed, lay next to her, and pull her close
God, the amount of love I have for her is insane
---
I wake up to a buzzing noise, and I: Saige's
I pick it up, glancing at the screen.
"four messages from Gio"
"Saige, I'm sorry for what happened yesterday."
"Can we please talk about it?"
"I'm not mad about it, I promise."
"Saige?"
What the fuck happened yesterday?
I sit her phone back down, and right as I sit it down, it buzzes repeatedly.
"incoming call from Gio"
Fuck this.
I press the accept button.
"Saige, I'm so sorry. Please talk to me," Gio frantically says over the phone.
"dude, it's nine in the morning. She's still fucking sleeping. What the fuck are you going on about?"
"Kaden? Umm- nothing, I'll call back later, sorry," he says with a guilty tone and hangs up.
What the fuck.
An hour later, Saige is twisting and turning, which tells me she's awake.
"good morning, babe," I whisper to her.
"Kaden?? When did you get here??" she questions frantically.
"last night, you and Kam must've had a few drinks. You were sleeping on the couch, so I moved you upstairs and decided to sleep here tonight," I say with a small smile.
"Also, gio has been blowing your phone up all morning; care to tell me what happened yesterday?" I say, raising an eyebrow
Her face turns white as a ghost, strange.
"umm… yesterday... nothing serious. We just got in a small argument over something stupid," she says in a pitched tone.
She's deflecting and lying.
.
I decided just to let it go, for now at least. I'm sure, eventually, I'll find out.
"do you want some breakfast? I'm sure you have a hangover."
"Please, that would be great," her face beaming with a shade of red.
I go downstairs, where I find my sister sitting at the table with her head down.
"Kambrie, get up. That's not going to help your hangover."
"Why are you here, Kaden?" she groans.
I ignore her and begin making waffles with fruit and coffee.
Kambrie has now made her way over to me and is hovering.
"Are you making me some?" she pouts.
I shake my head. Yes, how low of a brother does she think I am?
I put the food on the plates and sit Kambries on the table.
I walk upstairs to find Saige under the blankets.
"Saige, breakfast is done," I whisper, sitting her plate on the bed and handing her the coffee.
.
"thank you," she groans, and I'm just now noticing her tear-stained face.
"you're welcome, baby; what's wrong?" I say as I place a kiss on her forehead
.
"just tired," she shrugs, giving a weak smile.
She doesn't want to talk about what happened yesterday so I will give her some space.
"Okay, well, I have to get going; I have some business to handle. I'm going to pick you up tonight, and we will head to Greenwood for a few days, okay?'"
She nods her head in agreement, so I place a small kiss on her lips and leave the house.
Something is going on with Gio, and I have a bad feeling about it, especially since Saige won't tell me.
