BONG….! BONG….! BONG….!

A loud head bang suffered in my mind as I struggled to get off an unfamiliar bed. The blood-stained floor I was lying underneath the bed made me get back up immediately. I suddenly was reminded of a nightmare sequence I had a week ago about the guilt of the tragedy of my sister after seeing the blood splattered in most areas of the room I was in. I started to ponder through the room when I saw a picture of two women near each other; one was brushing the other's hair. It seemed like somebody lived here, but who could live in a bloody home like this?! Suddenly, the memories started returning to me; the figure, the creepy woman in the black dress dragging me, the moon, the death of the driver in the boat. That woman who pulled me must've brought me here! However, I didn't know how she looked since I could only see the appearance of her legs before I completely blanked out. I knew I needed to get back to my home somehow. The place I was in now was seen as a haunted Minka, which were Japanese homes seen in Japan. They have doors you can slide to the side instead of pushing or pulling them inside the home. I decided to wander recklessly through the whole house until I saw a room with yellow pages on a wooden table in a room with the same Shimenawas, which are used to keep away bad spirits from coming in, hanging on the top of the door. I walked in and read the pages to learn more about what was in the sketchy Minka.

"Long ago, lived two sisters who struggled in poverty. Rin was the eldest sister while Mio was the youngest sister of Rin. They would barely survive with the fewer portions of food, so they would usually starve while finding ways to save to buy more food to survive. One day, Mio came back filled with joy and excitement, and Rin started to question to her why she was so happy, but Mio refused to tell her. Rin in the end comes to a conclusion that Mio was secretly eating better without telling her, leading Rin envious at Mio. She grabs Mio one day, and devours her whole body until she was gone. Unfortunately, when Rin looked down at the corspe of Mio, she saw something she least expected Mio to do. She was saving enough coins each day from her new job so they could both eat plenty of food. Rin's tears of guilt poured as the consequences lead where she started to change. She had a second mouth form at the back of her head and it turned to be Mio's mouth for the guilt of killing Mio. Since Mio never eaten for so long, the mouth taunts and hurts her from behind until the mouth is fully satisfied from her hunger. Days passed and not finding food, the second mouth grows more famished, leading Rin to a lot of torture..."

The story gave me sudden chills and fear as I recognized the urban legend of the Futakuchi Onna: a two-mouthed woman who tends to have a second mouth on the back of their head, always…remaining hungry and never full. I always thought it was just a ghost story told to children, but I realized it makes sense why the rooms are filled with skulls and bloody corpses and why the story of the Futakuchi Onna was lying open in this Minka.

I decided to investigate again when the idea ended as I heard a deep growl coming from the hallway of the Minka and outside the room I was in. I panicked so much that I almost fainted but remembered the Shimenawas outside the door. I ran into the room with the entrance of Shimenawas. I was joyfully relieved because it worked, and the monster went to another part of the Minka. I started to hear a small squeaking sound coming from a small drawer. I walked to open the drawer when I saw a small brown rodent crawling around in the drawer. I picked up the rodent and saw something written on the wall before me. The message said,

Now that I knew how to escape this terrifying Minka, I had to start by finding the other two rodents to poison and feed to the Futakuchi Onna. She would collapse, and I would be set free from here! Before I walked out of the room, however, I saw the whole horror image of this monster. She was quite a tall, slinky, and thin woman with messy straight black hair, and her face wasn't porcelain like it was in the storybook, but instead, a wicked horrific face with wide, hungry eyes, and a hanging mouth, under the eyes had black smears dripping down to her mouth! She looked pale and was cautiously underweight, but the most frightening appearance was her mumbling deep voice that seemed unlike an average woman's voice, and the vote was also quiet and calming, which brought me more chills. I knew I needed to focus on the task and trust Kami to survive her.

With the rodent still in the palm of my hand, I grasped it using my fingers and thumb and quickly dashed out the door with the Shimenawa. It became intense; my heart pounded fast when I saw the Futakuchi Onna approaching me! My heart grew even heavier as I felt her getting closer to me, as I started breathing very heavily down the hallway; I suddenly spotted a room with a Shimenawa and bashed myself right inside the room as she was right near me until I went inside the room with the Shimenawa outside the door, making her prevented from coming inside. She walked away from the door and moved to another location inside the Minka, about a few miles from my destination. Before I went out again, I needed to make sure there weren’t any sounds from the creepy woman, so I would know when it was safe to go out. I continued to listen out the door, and my heart pounded hard as I felt too afraid and tensed to face the creepy black-haired woman again, but I still needed to find two more rats to poison and bring to the well so that the Futakuchi Onna can devour them. I remember a story where a young man’s greed had brought him to meet a Futakuchi Onna, and they consume constantly and never feel full since they have endless appetites.

I knew I had to escape before the woman decided to have me as her next prey. As the yokai was no longer in my sight, I quickly dashed to the next room with Shimenawas to immediately trip onto the floor. As I struggled to get back up from the ground, I spotted a small pink nose right close to where my front point of view was, and the slight blur that was around the pink nose was brown and mildly hairy; I gasped in glee as I realized I found the second rodent. In my head, I started to shout, ‘One more left..!’ My thoughts, however, were instantly cut off once I heard the deep voice of the Futakuchi Onna mumbling in the room I was in; I noticed then that the door of the room I was in…had no Shimenawas! I panicked as she was about to enter the room, so I briskly hid inside the stack of hay since this was the only place to hide. I hid tight, believing I would be safe until she left and I could flee to succeed in finding the last rodent, but without any expectations, I felt something hard and slightly heavy on the top of my scalp. I assumed it was a book on my head until I suddenly felt a grasp of a hand pulling me with a strong force, and my eyes caught the horrific and gloomy face of the Futakuchi Onna! I screamed and rapidly, with a strong point, kicked her thin body as she slipped and tumbled onto the bookshelf behind her while books dropped right on her, giving me time to grab the last mouse quickly. I then spot the last mouse inside the teapot from the exact room, me and the tumbled woman. I quickly grabbed it and cheered in slight tears to be free from this horrifying place! I had to poison the three rodents I’d found to trick the creepy woman and finally escape! Without hesitation and feeling a breeze of confidence, I quickly sprinted to the well, poisoned the rats, laid them gently in the well, and leaped rapidly towards the door's exit. A sudden, deep, and demonic sound caught my attention quickly before I latched the door open.

“Ahhhhh…” the deep voice echoed through the hallway.

“I see you are trying to escape my Minka…did you think you could trick me with RODENTS!? Because of what you did..you have upset Mio.”

After she said this, I saw her fully rotate her head in a 180-degree angle showing the back of her head. I saw her second mouth looking raged in anger from the crime I committed to doing on the woman..and only knew my only option now was to run for my life. As I quickly ran for it, I saw the massive mouth attached to the back of the woman’s head coming right after me! Many hay stacks blocked my concentration from speeding up as the mouth caught up to me and was about to bite my head off! I did the only thing I could think of to survive...I yanked a haystack into her mouth and leaped against the door but flew out and hit my head right onto the ground. The pain in my head from falling made me slowly black out, as a shiny white light was all I could see before I completely passed out.
