Spider-Man painfully swings through the city, the rain getting slightly more intense. He arrives at MJ's apartment, opens the window, and walks through to an outraged Mary Jane Watson.
"What is wrong with you!?" She starts, "You can't wait a few days!?"
"MJ, listen-"
"I mean do you have any respect for your own life!? Sure it's a responsibility and all that, whatever, but I don't know what I or Harry would do if you got yourself killed because of this thing!" MJ taps the spider logo, she pauses in deep thought, "But, now I know there's no holding you back. So, do what you want, just keep us out of it,"
MJ storms off to her room and slams the door. Peter walks to her door and thinks about knocking, but ultimately decides to put his regular clothes back on and walks home.
Eventually, he reaches his apartment and crashes on his bed. His phone starts to vibrate, it's a call from Jameson.
"Hello?" Peter picks up the phone.
"Parker!" Jameson starts, "Please tell me you have pictures of what just happened!?"
"No, I was at a friend's place," Peter responds, rubbing his eyes with his other hand.
"Just great," Jameson hangs up. Peter turns on his CRT TV and sees the news.
"...and after the battle, we can confirm that 10 people were injured with very little input from Spider-Man to stop that number," The Reporter states with confidence, "they have all been hospitalized, but the condition of the people within the truck is not the most hopeful," Peter turns off the CRT.
Peter looks in his closet and sees the briefcase containing his red and blue suit. In disgust, he turns away from it and lays on his side.
Meanwhile, Kearney is taken into custody at the RAFT. He is put into a steel room with bulletproof glass at the front. Kearney, in an orange jumpsuit, is shoved in there and the door is locked behind him. Kearney looks around his surroundings, with a bed, a toilet, and a sink with nothing else. Kearney walks over and sits on the bed with his hand on his head. Kearney starts uncontrollably coughing.
The next morning, Peter wakes up fully dressed. He grabs his phone and looks at it, he has a voice message from MJ. Peter unlocks his phone and plays the voice message.
"Hey, Pete," The voice message starts, "Listen, I'm sorry for yelling at you. Harry told me about your argument, him and I, both of us are just concerned for your safety. But I thought about it, and I understand that you have a duty. Though, that doesn't change the fact that you are putting it so far above your safety. Just, think about that," The voice message ends. Peter goes back to the menu with his contacts and calls MJ. After it rings for a while, she picks up.
"Hello?" MJ answers, sounding as though she was sleeping.
"Oh, I'm sorry I woke you," Peter looks at the time, seeing that it's 6:13 in the morning.
"You're good, what do you want?" She asks.
"I just heard your voice message, we're good. I guess nothing was stopping me from resting," Peter answers.
"Yeah,"
"Well, hopefully, you can get back to sleep. Bye,"
"Bye," Peter hangs up and puts his phone on his nightstand. He gets out of bed and grabs a bag of wheat bread. He opens the bag and grabs two slices. He puts the soft, fluffy pieces of bread in the toaster. Soon enough, the toaster makes a metal cling sound as the now crusty, hot toast shoots up. Peter grabs the toast and puts it on a plate. He spreads some strawberry jelly on it.
Peter quickly eats the toast. He looks in his closet. He sees the red and purple suit hanging in the closet. He sighs and looks down at the box. He opens it and sees the red and blue suit, he grabs it and a sewing kit and starts to sew it back together. He finishes one tear when his phone starts ringing. He gets up and walks over to his nightstand. He looks at his phone, his police scanner app is causing the ringing. Gang war at Central Park, the app shows.
Peter sighs and grabs the red and purple suit, he puts it on quickly and leaps out the window. He swings through the city with swiftness. Suddenly, Peter's phone rings once more. Spider-Man lands on a nearby roof and answers the phone.
"Not a good time, Jameson," Peter answers.
"Then I'll make it quick," Jameson starts, "we booked an interview with this Kearney fellow from yesterday, you're the photographer I'm sending so I hope you have an open schedule,"
"Yeah, what time?" Peter asks,
"3:15 PM today," Jameson answers.
"I'll be there," Peter hangs up, puts his phone away, and continues heading toward Central Park. Eventually, Spider-Man arrives at Central Park. He sees one group of people with mainly purple clothes and another with mainly yellow clothes. The two groups are shooting their weapons at each other. "Really, more of these guys?" Spider-Man asks himself, sounding annoyed, "Have you guys ever heard of diplomacy!?" Spider-Man shouts at the gangs, the shooting stops and the gangs look up at where Spider-Man is coming from. Spider-Man swings in between the groups.
The red and purple hero's spider-sense starts ringing, he flips over into the yellow gang as the two gangs start to fire at Spider-Man. Spider-Man dodges the bullets with relative ease, he kicks one of the member's legs and punches him in the face, sending him to the ground. He shoots a web at a member's pistol and pulls it away. He knocks out the member. Spider-Man continues dodging bullets as he takes out the yellow members one by one.
He thinks he knocked all of them out when one of the members sneaks behind Spider-Man with a crowbar. The member swings the crowbar, and Spider-Man turns around and grabs the crowbar. He pulls it out of the member's hands and strikes him in the face. Spider-Man turns his attention to the purple members.
"You want this!?" Spider-Man yells out at the members. They slowly start to back off, "Huh, that actually worked," Spider-Man whispers to himself, looking around. He starts running before jumping in the air and starting a swing out of the park.
That afternoon, Peter walks up to the R.A.F.T. super prison, he has his camera in his hands. Peter looks at the prison and sees construction workers repairing where Vulture broke out a few days ago. At the entrance to the R.A.F.T. and sees someone in a brown suit, he has orange hair. Peter walks up to the person.
"Hello, Mr. Foswell," Peter holds out one of his hands for a handshake.
"Please, Peter, call me Frederick," Foswell shakes Peter's hand.
"Okay, Frederick," Peter and Foswell walk up to a security guard, Foswell shows the guard his badge.
"The kid's with me, we're here for the Kearney interview," Foswell tells the guard, he looks at the badge and opens the gate.
"Baldwin!" The guard yells out at another guard at the front doors to the prison, "Take these two to questioning room 15!" Baldwin nods and walks over to Peter and Foswell.
"Come with me," Baldwin orders and walks over to a door, he scans his badge and the door unlocks. He opens the door for Peter and Foswell, the two of them go through and Baldwin follows. The guard gets in front of Peter and Foswell, and they follow him. The three of them walk through the hallways of the super prison, eventually, they arrive at a corridor with a bunch of doors with Questioning Room followed by a number written on them. Baldwin gestures to them the door with 15 on it. Baldwin swipes his badge once more and the door unlocks.
The security guard opens the door and the three of them walk in. Kearney is sitting, handcuffed to a metal table in the middle of the room, there is a one-way mirror in the room. Baldwin positions himself in a corner just in case things go badly. Foswell sits it a metal chair and Peter is left standing to get good pictures.
"Hello, Kearney, I am Frederick Foswell," Foswell points to himself, "This is Peter Parker, we're from the Daily Bugle and are going to interview you," Foswell points to Peter.
"Yes, I'm the photographer," Peter tells Kearney, sort of nervous that he'll recognize him.
"Hm," Kearney responds, "you seem familiar, boy, have we met?" Peter's neck starts to sweat as his nervousness spikes. Foswell can see this nervousness.
"Kearney, if I may, but I believe that I'm the one asking the questions today," Foswell intervenes, Kearney narrows his eyes at Foswell.
"Very well," Kearney states, leaning forward into the conversation.
"Well, this conversation will be recorded for journalism purposes," Foswell pulls a recorder out of his pocket and hits the record button, "My first question for you is how did you plan such a heist like the one at Oscorp?" Foswell asks,
"Oh, where do I even start?" Kearney sarcastically responds, "Well, how about 2 years ago. I was just your average crook, with a lot of debt. I had one more robbery to pay that debt off and I was free to get out of the game. But, you're never going to believe who just decided to show up. The bug stopped us and so I continued to have my life threatened because of it. So, I started organizing a crew just to get ready to eventually get revenge on him. Fast forward and I discovered a new Oscorp drug and thought it was my chance for freedom and revenge. So I devised a plan to stealthily steal a bunch of money from a bunch of stores around the city, which went off without a hitch. Though, it was pretty upsetting to see Spider-Man not even recognize me," Kearney pauses. Peter starts to feel bad while taking pictures.
"Kearney, are you with us?" Foswell gets Kearney out of the daze.
"Oh yes, anyways, we robbed Oscorp to get the drug. That also went perfectly, so I sold it to the person I was in debt to and a few other people but kept the rest of myself to finally get my revenge. Although, all that money is gone and Spider-Man stopped me so my freedom is too, so it was all for nothing," Kearney finishes.
"Wait, I'm sorry," Baldwin interrupts, "are you saying that the drug is still in criminal hands?"
"Yes, it just maybe," Kearney answers, and Peter, Foswell, and Baldwin show shock. Baldwin turns on his walkie-talkie.
"Get me Captain George Stacy from the NYPD," Baldwin demands, "Now!"
Behind the one-way mirror, Baldwin and Captain Stacy are talking behind it. "If the prisoner is to be believed, then the stolen drug is still on the streets and could cause havoc across the city," Baldwin tells the captain.
"I see, I can instruct some patrolling and tell the FBI about it but it's not guaranteed that they'll take the case," George responds, "However there's a precaution for that, as well," There is a brief moment of silence, "Thanks for telling me about this," The police captain walks out of the room, closing the door behind him.
Back in the questioning room, the interview has concluded.
"Thank you for your time, Kearney," Foswell turns off the recorder, and Peter lowers his camera. Foswell puts the recorder back in his pocket as he gets up from the table. Foswell and Peter walk out of the room as Baldwin walks back in, presumably to take Kearney back to his cell. "Why'd you stay the whole time?" Foswell asks as Peter and he walk down the halls of the prison, "All you had to do is show up, take a few pictures, and leave,"
"I don't know," Peter answers, "don't wanna walk back and don't have money for a cab. Plus, I was interested in the conversation,"
"That's fair," Foswell and Peter walk out of the prison and get in Foswell's car. Foswell turns the keys and the car rumbles to life. They drive away from the island.
That night, Peter watches the Daily Bugle news channel to see extensive coverage of the interview. While he's watching, his police scanner app goes off. He opens his phone to see, not a crime, but a message to Spider-Man. The message reads I know you can see this, Spider-Man, meet me at the top of the police station by the Empire State. Peter suits up and leaps out of the window to start swinging toward the police station.
Spider-Man swings up through the windy night sky toward Captain Stacy on the roof of the police station. Spider-Man lands by the captain on the roof.
"Like the new suit, haven't had the chance to say that," Stacy comments.
"Old suit, actually, and thank you," Spider-Man responds, "I doubt that's all you wanted to say, though,"
"You'd be right," Stacy responds, "you know that Kearney guy from yesterday?"
"Yeah,"
"Well, he said something very interesting. He said that he sold some of the drug before we caught him and that it might still be on the streets,"
"Oh,"
"So I told Watanabe and she'll get her crew on it. I tried to tell the FBI but they said not to believe something so random that a criminal said, especially one like Kearney. So I'm coming to you to simply ask if you can keep an eye out?"
"Yeah, I can keep an eye out," Spider-Man answers, "See you around!" Spider-Man jumps off the roof and starts swinging through the brightly-lit streets.
