Elliott had been keeping an eye on her and when she started swaying he moved his horse closer to hers. The rest of the troop noticed at that point and Dillon moved to the other side just before Kay passed out and began to fall off her horse. She had fallen towards Elliott so he caught her and Dillon took the horse rains as Elliott pulled Kay onto his horse in front of him so he could make sure she didn’t fall.
He held her as they rode everyone was worried about her as she slept she had looked paler than they had ever seen her before. Once at the camp Elliott took her to her tent and laid her down on her cot and checked on her throughout the day. That afternoon she woke up and was a little confused, she wasn’t sure where she was right away. When she realized she was in her tent she was confused about how she got there but felt better otherwise. She remembered riding back to camp but she didn’t remember making it to camp.
She got up as Elliot walked in and said, “You should sit back down and take it easy. You passed out on the way here.” She was still trying to get her head to clear as she sat on the cot. Elliott was watching her as he said, “You should have told us you were feeling worse.” She shook her head a little and said, “There was no point and if we stopped every time I felt bad it would have taken days to get back.” Elliott crossed his arms and said, “Then we take days to get back. Next time tell us when you need a break. You can’t just push yourself like that. You had all of us worried sick.”
Kay looked up at him and could see he was still worried as he watched her as she tried to grapple with her thoughts. She hadn’t realized she had made anyone worry but she knew she should have expected that Elliott would have noticed and been worried about her. She felt bad for making them worry she just thought she could make it to camp and then rest in her tent when they got there. Elliott could see as she started to feel she had caused problems for others.
