I helped her get out a little bit ago but they had her in a room that was filled with smoke that drained her energy. She’s still alive but she’s very weak right now. We hid in the barn until you guys got here.” Lucas and Dillon ran over to him as he spoke.
When they got to him, they relaxed seeing they were both okay, Elliott said, “I tried to wake her up but she wouldn’t wake up. My guess is she’s sleeping too heavily to wake up.” Lucas removed her mask for her and when the wind hit her face, she moved her head closer to Elliott in her sleep. Lucas relaxed a little more when she moved and said, “come on we brought a carriage to bring her back in.” Elliott followed him and when they got to the carriage, he laid her down on one of the seats as best he could. Lucas rode in the carriage with Elliott and Kay.
Lucas and Elliott sat on one side and let Kay sleep on the other side. Lucas smiled a little as he saw Kay sleeping and said, “thank you for helping Alice and going after Kay if you hadn’t, I don’t know how long it would have taken us to find her.” he had spoken just loud enough for Elliott to hear but nobody outside the carriage. Elliott shrugged and said, “she is one of my soldiers I wasn’t just going to leave her to fend for herself.” Lucas chuckled a little and said, “are you still denying how you feel about her? It’s clear as day to me how you feel about her so why not just admit it.”
Elliott looked at Kay and quietly said, “It’s just better this way.” Lucas then asked, “are you ever going to let her know?” Elliott changed the topic and asked, “when we get back to the castle who will bring her inside?” Lucas shook his head and said, “the ball is still going we slipped out without telling anyone who didn’t need to know. we can bring her in without anyone seeing fairly easily and if we put her mask back on, I can carry her in and anyone who sees me will assume she is Alice.” Elliott nodded and Lucas said, “we’ll have the castle doctor check her out when we get there.”
Elliott then asked, “is the reason you treat her like a sister because she looks similar to Alice?” Lucas smiled and said, “no, while that is a good guess it’s not the reason.
