When he was done he said, “she doesn’t like new people and honestly only trusts Kay. If you know what you’re doing she will allow you to work but if you don’t know her signs don’t mess with her she might hurt you.” They all took off quickly climbing the trees nearby and disappearing. Elliott turned and took Kay back to her tent and laid her down on her cot and covered her up. The rest of the troop relaxed knowing she was safe now. She had become important to the whole troop but not in the same way as Elliott.
They all hoped Elliott and Kay would someday be together. They could all tell Kay and Elliott were good for each other. When Elliott came out Dillon asked, “Is she really okay?” Elliott nodded and said, “She’ll be fine she just needs to take it easy for a couple of days. though the odds of that happening are low.” Dillon chuckled a little and said, “You are more likely to get her to stop sword fighting.”
Elliott went back to his tent and started to look over the next day’s training. He felt more relaxed now that Kay was back and resting. Kay woke up several hours later. It was dark now and when she looked around the camp it looked like everyone had gone to bed but she could still see a couple of them on patrol and Elliott had a lantern on still in his tent. She wondered why he was still up and if he had treated his wounds yet.
She had decided to check on him but she didn’t want to be caught by the others, so she snuck over making sure to stay out of the light slipping passed everyone as she did. When she got to his tent, she let him know she was there and asked him if she could come in. She had spoken just loud enough he could hear her but nobody else would be able to. He pulled her into the tent after he lowered the lantern, they could still see but the lantern wouldn’t cause shadows on the tent walls. He was worried and asked, “Are you okay? You should be in bed. What happened?”
Kay smiled a little and said, “I’m fine, I just saw your lantern was still on and wanted to make sure you treated your wounds tonight and see why you are up so late.”
