he didn’t say anything he just let her cry as he held her. As she cried, she felt like he was the only thing holding her together as she felt like she was falling apart. When she was done, she pulled away a little and apologized. Elliott didn’t release her completely right away as he said, “never apologize for being upset. You should let your emotions out it’s not good to let them build up, and if you’re upset about your engagement then why stand by it why not break it off.” Kay shrugged and said, “if I do there will be a fight between my family and his and I don’t want anyone getting hurt because I was being selfish.”
Elliott said, “it’s good to be selfish on some things and this should be one of them. You should marry someone you love and who loves you. Not someone who was picked for you.” Kay held his arms and said, “but if people died because I was being selfish.” Her grip tightened a little as she spoke and Elliott pulled her into a hug and said, “you don’t know for sure they will fight or not but you know you don’t want this engagement and that you have people who will help you if they do decide to fight. so, which is worse the potential of a fight you would most likely win or spending the rest of your life with someone you don’t love.” She didn’t know how to answer him she wanted to tell him he was who she loved but she couldn’t not yet. When he felt her relax, he slowly released her and said, “if you feel better, we should find some firewood fast and head back Lucas might come looking for us. If you want to talk more about this or anything else let me know okay.”
She nodded and they searched for firewood when they found enough, they came back at different times from different sides of the camp to make it seem like they weren’t together. When Lucas saw them though he knew right away they were together, he could also see Kay looked like she was feeling a little better so he stayed quiet and didn’t pick on either of them. Kay pulled out some of the food she packed and passed it out.
