Elliott shrugged and said, “I needed to get up anyway. So back to my question. How do you feel today?” Kay shrugged and said, “I have a small headache but otherwise I feel normal.”
Elliott smiled and said, “that’s good. Lucas, did they catch anyone last night?” Lucas smiled and said, “I haven’t spoken with them yet.” Elliott said, “okay I’ll go see.” He got up and stretched before he started to leave. Kay quickly said, “thank you both for helping me last night. I’m sorry I should have been more careful.”
Elliott stopped and said, “you have nothing to be sorry for that falls on the person who drugged you.” He left without another word but Kay could tell he was upset. She pulled herself into a ball and said, “if he didn’t already think I was a terrible guard I’m sure he does now.” Lucas came over and sat in the chair next to the bed and said, “I doubt that. The last time you protected Alice, you may have needed help getting yourself out but you did what you were supposed to. This time you let your guard down around people you thought you could trust that’s not your fault and I’m sure he sees that.” A tear rolled down Kay’s cheek as she thought ‘even if Lucas is right, I still failed him.’
Lucas handed her clothes to her and said, “go change in the bathroom.” She nodded and took her stuff to the bathroom a few seconds later Elliott came back when he noticed Kay wasn’t in the room, he looked at Lucas who pointed to the bathroom door. Elliott relaxed and quietly said, “someone came in but they couldn’t catch them. They came to her room late last night they were allowed to check the bed and they got mad when they found she wasn’t there. When they were confronted, they attacked the guards their okay but I am glad Kay wasn’t in the room. Though I think it was Jack by the way he was acting last night. Please tell me he’s not who she’s engaged to.” Lucas stepped closer and quietly asked, “do you think Kay is a bad soldier?” Elliott was confused and said, “no, why would I and why are you asking?”
