She could tell he hadn’t treated his wounds yet either and said, “You need to treat your wounds but if you’re not going to then let me.” He looked up at her and started to say he was fine when she cut him off and said, “Your wounds might not be serious but they still need to be treated. Let me help.” He sat on the edge of the bed and grabbed out an ointment for bruising and small scratches and gave it to her. He removed his shirt and she was worried when she saw how much of his back had been injured. she began applying the ointment when she was almost done she asked, “This happened when we hit the cliff didn’t it?”
He was quiet for a second but said, “Yes that’s most likely when it happened.” She was quiet for a second and said, “I’m sorry if I had been paying more attention.” He cut her off and said, “It's not your fault. I chose to jump after you.” They were quiet for a second when he asked, “Are you really going to go through with the marriage to that guy?” Kay was surprised and asked, “Why are you asking me about that?”
He got up and put his shirt back on and ran his fingers through his hair he then looked at her and said, “I don’t want you to be in danger. Lucas told me a little about the guy. he still won’t tell me who he is but I know enough to know you are not safe with him, and if it’s just that you have to marry someone then marry me. Even if you think it’s a loveless marriage at least you will be safe and nobody can force you to marry him then. Things can stay as they are with us sleeping in separate rooms, I’m not going to force you to do anything you don’t want to, and if you find someone you love and want to be with we can end the marriage and you can be with them but please don’t marry him.” Kay was surprised as she watched him she had never seen him like this before. when she didn’t say anything he said, “It’s the only idea I have come up with. If you have another idea please tell me because I can’t stand the thought of you being put in danger.”
