Ben and his men agreed and said their goodbyes. She knew Ben and his men were actually here to keep an eye on her and assure her safety, and the plant Helen was growing was a secondary mission she sent them on because she didn’t want to be watched all the time. Kay knew the plant had healing properties so it was important in Kays mind.
When Ben and the others left Elliott came up and asked, “where did you hide for them not to notice you?” Kay smiled and said, “there’s a spot near here I used to play at. I wanted to see it again I was there when they surrounded you guys. How did they get the jump on you guys anyway?” Elliott wasn’t looking at her when he said, “we were talking about where to set the tents when we noticed you were gone so we were about to start looking for you when they caught us off guard. If you’re going to wander off at least tell us.” Kay was surprised and asked, “Why were you guys looking for me?” Elliott looked at her then and said, “We didn’t know where you went or what happened some of us were worried.”
Elliott walked away then and Kyle came up after hearing what Elliott said and said, “Don’t let him fool you we were all worried but we knew you could handle yourself he was the one who wanted to go look for you.” Kay could normally tell if Kyle was messing with her but she couldn’t tell at this moment so she decided to not think too much on it. she then walked back to the cave and take another look around again she found a note from a friend she had never met in person. They had found her drawling’s and left her a note based on how they wrote and what was said she figured they were about her age. she was planning on asking them if they wanted to meet but before she could ask, she found out about Lucas following her and never came back. She smiled when she saw the note and put it away in a bag she always had with her wanting to read it later.
She then left the cave and headed back to her horse and grabbed her tent and found a place to set it up for the night.
