She got up and walked over to him and said, “you don’t even know my real name or who I am. Why do you want to protect me like this.” He took her hands and pulled her a little closer and put his forehead to hers as he said, “I don’t have to know your name we can sign two marriage papers one for your name now and one for your real name. You can sign last so I never see it and you can keep it with you. I just want to make sure you are safe. I can’t stand the thought of him hurting you. I know you can defend yourself but you can’t stay on guard all day and night every day and night. You will eventually ware down then he will hurt you and I don’t want that to happen to you. I know you probably see this as another loveless marriage but please just let me keep you safe.”
She was surprised he was still willing to marry her even though he didn’t know who she was. She could tell he was telling the truth, that he was concerned for her, and that he wanted to protect her but she wasn’t sure how he felt about her. She thought about how determined Lucas and the girls were to know how she felt about him and how they said he was the first to come to look for her and what Kyle said recently, then she remembered when he told her his opinion on marriage. With everything that has happened, she knew she was safe with him and that she could trust him. She then said, “I know your right, I can’t stay on guard all day and night but what about if you find someone you want to be with?”
he smiled and said, “We’ll figure that out then though I doubt that will happen. I have thought it through even if it seems like an impulsive ideal.” He then thought ‘Considering you are who I want to be with.’ She stepped back as she thought he might regret this decision and she said, “I trust you more than most of the people I know. I know you think things through when you’re making a decision. I just want to know you have thought about all the possible consequences. I don’t want you to regret this decision later. We would have to be careful who knows and who doesn’t.
