As they spoke the people at the ball were surprised by Grayson’s treatment of Kay.
Grayson then said, “so, are you still against marrying my son.” Kay gave a polite smile and said, “I have told you and your son multiple times now I am engaged and I don’t plan on breaking it anytime soon.” This got more shocked looks then Grayson said, “Yes but you don’t love the guy you said it yourself you don’t even like him. Why not marry my son?” Kay shrugged and said, “I have no feelings for your son either King Grayson trading one loveless marriage for another is just pointless.” Grayson said, “But if you marry my son then you would want for nothing. Can you say the same of the man you’re engaged to?”
Kay said, “While I appreciate the offer King Grayson my answer is still the same and will not be changed.” Grayson nodded and said, “Very well then I understand I’ll stop trying then.” Kay smiled gently at him and said, “Thank you, King Grayson. How was your trip here? Did you have any problems?” Grayson smiled and said, “It went smoothly. There were no troubles thank you for asking dear. Though the more you act like this the more I wish you would change your mind. You would make an excellent Queen.” Kay said, “Thank you for the compliment, King Grayson.”
He looked at Lucas and Elliott and said, “Maybe one of those two could win your heart before you have to marry whoever that man is and then you could be happy with someone who could give you whatever you want.” He said it quietly so nobody but Kay heard him. Kay forced a smile as she said, “Thank you but that probably wouldn’t happen I know at least one of them sees me as more of a sister than anything else and I don’t think the other sees me that way either.” Her voice was so quiet only Grayson could hear what she said. Before he could say anything in response, she smiled a little more and said, “though as for getting me anything I want I don’t need anyone for that I can get it myself.”
