When they got there, the spot where they were was flooded and Elliott walked over and got the note he left behind for the rest of the troop. When he came back he saw Kay had sat down with her arms crossed over her knees and her head lying on them she still felt tired from yesterday and her head still hurt a little. he looked at her and asked, “How do you feel right now.” She looked up, gave him a weak smile, and said, “I’ll be fine I just need to rest a little bit.” He nodded and sat down beside her and said, “Then we’ll wait here for a little bit.”
Kay looked at Elliott as he sat down and could tell he was probably more tired than she was and said, “Why don’t you take a nap while we rest here I’ll keep an eye out for anything. I can stay awake I just need to sit down for a little bit. If I notice anything I’ll wake you up.” Elliott agreed and Kay moved behind him and let him lean on her. He fell asleep shortly after he leaned against her and Kay made sure to keep her guard up as he slept. About two hours later she felt the troop approaching she woke Elliott up and let him know. He got up and stretched before helping her up.
When the troop arrived, they could see the bandages on Kay’s head and some on her arms. When they looked at Elliott they could see some scratches on his arm near his sleeve. The troop ran to Kay and Elliott and asked, “Are you two okay?” Kay smiled weakly and Elliott said, “We’re still alive. We both have some injuries Kay’s are worse than mine. We wound up staying at someone’s house last night. They saw our fire before the rainstorm hit and came to see if we need help. Kay was having a hard time staying awake at the time so we went with him I figured it would be safer and we would have less to worry about there.” Dillon said, “You two seem to be feeling better now. Are you ready to head back to camp we brought your horses.”
They nodded and walked over to the horses, they were both still tired as they climbed on and followed Dillon. As they headed back to camp Kay’s headache began to get worse and she felt weaker but hid her pain acting as if nothing was wrong.
