Before they left he wrote a note for his men and hung it on the wall then picked up their stuff and put his cloak around Kay to keep her as dry as possible. When he picked her up he laid her head on his shoulder to keep her head from bouncing around as he walked, the man put out the fire when Elliott picked up Kay.
As they walked she woke up a little and quietly asked, “were are we going?” Elliott could hear how weak she was but was glad to hear her voice and said, “There is a couple who live close by we’re going there to get you out of the rain.” Kay passed back out before she could respond but she did move closer to him as she rested. Elliott didn’t say a word about it and just held her closer. Soon they made it to the house and went in the man called, “Penny we were right to worry one of them is hurt get a bed ready for her.”
A woman with brown hair and green eyes came into the room and said, “Oh dear, is she okay? Bring her this way I have a room already set up just in case. She looks soaked to the bone and freezing. She can use one of my nightgowns. Are you her husband or are you two dating or just friends?” Elliott said, “We’re not married.” But that was all he was going to say on the matter he didn’t know them and he still didn’t trust them completely. Penny said, “Then I will help her change. Can’t have you help her if you’re not married.” Elliott stopped for a moment and said, “How do I know you won’t try to hurt her instead.”
Penny smiled gently and said, “Hun if we wanted to hurt either of you we would have done it by now. I get you don’t know us and you clearly don’t trust us but I promise we just want to help.” Kay woke up a little when she felt him tense up at the thought of leaving her with Penny. Kay then said, “It’ll be okay I’ll try and stay awake until you come back.” He nodded and reluctantly left her with Penny he went to the next room and changed quickly. He had just changed his pants and was changing his shirt when he heard a noise from the room Kay was in.
