Dillon smiled and asked, “Did you listen to her?” Elliott smiled a little and said, “They were treated after she woke up and I was sure she would be okay.” Dillon laughed a little and said, “She was probably mad when she woke up and found you hadn’t treated your wounds yet.” Elliott shrugged and said, “She didn’t seem that mad probably annoyed but not mad.” Dillon Shook his head and said, “She was probably too tired to be mad.”
Elliott shrugged, rubbed his face, and asked, “Anything else you wanted to talk about?” Dillon smiled a little more and said, “Yes, but you are unwilling to talk to me about it.” Elliott shook his head and dismissed Dillon, not wanting to talk to him about what happened between him and Kay while they were separated from the group with Dillon just yet. Dillon laughed as he left. Elliott shook his head and turned out his lantern the rest of the way before laying down on his bunk.
He lay there thinking about Kay and the kiss they shared before Dillon had stopped by. He was glad he finally told her how he felt about her and that she kissed him in response, but he wanted to hear from her how she felt about him. He figured the kiss meant she felt the same but he still wanted to hear her say it. Still, he decided he wouldn’t push it, he knew if she felt the same she would tell him eventually and now they had as long as she needed to tell him whether or not she felt the same. At least now she knew how he felt about her and she hadn’t completely rejected him and that was enough for him. After a little bit he headed to the water fall to place the letter.
Meanwhile Kay walked back to her tent careful not to alert anyone to her presence and stuck to the shadows. When she got back to her tent she lay down on her cot and thought about what Elliott had said with a smile. She was happy she knew how he felt about her then realized she didn’t actually say it back and regretted not telling him right away. She had been so happy to hear him say that he loved her that she had just kissed him and forgot to tell him she felt the same about him. She smiled and remembered the letter and went behind the waterfall to wait on him.
