Elliott smiled and nodded before taking his leave. Kay locked the door behind him and leaned against the door for a second when she heard a knock at the door. She opened it and found Elliott standing there and he said, “I almost forgot, the guys in the troop want to test your skills and wanted me to ask if you would consider that for training tomorrow.” Kay smiled and said, “that sounds fun.” Elliott smiled and said, “good, it will give me a chance to see everyone’s skills and rework the rankings. Have a good night.” He left than to make the list for tomorrow’s fights.
Kay closed and locked the door and once again leaned against it. After a minute she moved away from the door and started to unpack her things she didn’t have much but it was all she needed. Once she was done, she took a bath and went to bed early. The next morning, she followed Elliott to the building they would be practicing in. When they got there all the men in the troop were already there and they greeted Elliott.
Elliott walked to the side of the men and said, “listen up today you will be fighting our newest member so we can see how she ranks with us. Do not underestimate her. You may regret it.” None of the men laughed they knew it was a warning. Elliott then said, “this is Kay. Who wants to go against her first?” As he asked a couple of men stepped forward and one said, “we don’t believe she is as strong as they say she is. Her last troop consisted of long-range personnel so it’s easy to be better than them.” Some of the men agreed but some had fought her before and knew she was every bit as strong as the claims stated. Elliott started to say something when Kay asked, “are you volunteering to go first then?”
The two men looked at each other trying to decide which one would go first when Kay said, “I’ll fight you both at the same time if you can’t make up your minds.” The man who spoke up first said, “if we both fight you, we can have one arm restricted so it’s fairer.”
