Lucas smiled a small smile and took the letter and stuck it in his coat pocket and said, “Consider it done. May I ask what’s in it?” she smiled a little and said, “Just updating them on some things and where I stand on those things.”
Lucas raised an eyebrow and asked, “Oh, and is it good or bad.” Kay laughed a little and said, “Depends on who you are I suppose.” Lucas smiled and kissed her cheek then the girls came up and kissed her cheek as they started to say goodbye. Just then Jack, Jade, and Grayson came up. Jack was clearly trying to hide injuries and if nobody knew about the attack then nobody would have noticed but everyone that was with Kay before they arrived noticed and were trying to keep from attacking him on the spot.
Grayson came up to Kay still unaware of what his son had been up to last night. He smiled and said, “Kay, dear please come visit I do enjoy talking with you and I still hope what I said last night at the ball happens, and don’t worry I’m not talking about the part about my son.” She smiled at him and said, “I’ll try to come see you again. Maybe next time I come down we can have a long discussion.” Grayson’s smile widened as he said, “That would be lovely. When are you supposed to get married it’s coming up, isn’t it? Bring him with you next time I would like to see if he’s good enough for you. I don’t know who he is but if he ever hurts you let me know and I’ll kill him myself and you can tell him as much.” Kay smiled and hugged Grayson as she said, “Thank you, King Grayson.”
When she pulled away, he patted her cheek and said, “You deserve better in your life.” She laughed and said, “How do you know he’s not worthy of me if you haven’t met him?” Grayson said, “Two reasons one nobody will ever be good enough for you in my eyes, and two because you don’t love him, and that in itself makes him not worthy of you my dear. So, tell me dear when are you supposed to be married.” Kay forced a smile and said, “If nothing changes next month.”
