Meanwhile, as Kay was heading to the archery range Xavier spotted her and followed her to the range. Kay could practically feel him looking at her but pretended not to know he was there and made herself look bad at archery, hoping he had just come to see if she had been pretending while under his command. Unfortunately, her plan backfired, and he came up to her and said, “Kay it’s so lovely to see you here, though I must say you’re positioned incorrectly how about I show you while I’m here?” before she could say anything against it, he moved behind and started to reach for her. Just before he touched her though she let her fingers slip from the string as she pulled back, clipping him in the side with her elbow.
She turned and apologized like it was an accident. Just then Elliott came up and said, “Xavier if you’re going to try and help my soldiers, I would recommend not being behind them or standing so close to them.” Xavier was still hurting as he said, “you might be right but how else should we correct her stance?” Elliott walked over to Kay and said, “that’s easy just tell her what to do. For example, Kay move your elbow up just a little and your feet are too far apart.” Kay made the adjustments and Elliott said, “now release the arrow and we’ll see what adjustments need to be made from there.”
She did as he said but missed the target intentionally. Xavier wasn’t happy that Elliott had gotten in his way once again and didn’t want to watch him help her so he left without a word. Elliott saw him leave and waited for him to get out of hearing range before asking, “are you okay?” Kay nodded but didn’t say anything for a second, she felt bad for lying to Elliott even if it was necessary so, she told him what she could. She looked at him and said, “I want you to know I kind of lied to you. I’m not actually bad at archery I just wanted to get away from Xavier.”
Before she could explain further, he held up his hands and said, “you don’t have to explain it to me I can see why you would want to get away from him.
