Lucas smiled at them he figured what Elliott said was what caused Kay to lose her footing. Kay glared at him for a second, basically telling him to shut up before he could say anything.
She released Elliott’s arm when they got to the bottom and said, “thank you.” He smiled gently and said, “anytime.” They walked into the ball together, and almost as soon as they entered Kay was pulled into a dance with Jack. Elliott wasn’t happy about Jack dancing with Kay and when he noticed Jack’s hand getting lower as the dance continued, he walked over to them and asked, “may I cut in?” Jack wasn’t happy about it but released Kay and let Elliott dance away with her.
Kay was surprised when Elliott came up and asked to cut in, she was glad he did but she wondered why for a brief moment. Elliott had wanted to dance with Kay at the last ball but knew Xavier would freak out and he didn’t want Xavier to know how he felt about Kay just yet. Kay was nervous at first but soon relaxed as they danced, he didn’t try to explain why he cut in as they danced. They were both smiling as they danced and had lost track of the time and their surroundings, they were just glad to be with one another. Soon though Jack cut in and Jade started to dance with Elliott and Kay was brought back to her reality.
She reminded herself she was engaged but her heart ached to see Elliott and Jade dance even if he didn’t look like he was enjoying it. She told Jack that she was tired of dancing for the moment and walked away. Elliott saw her walk away and could see she was upset, he wanted to go check on her luckily someone else asked to cut in he agreed and walked off. When Kay got to the edge of the room Jack brought her a drink and handed it to her, she thanked him and took a drink hoping it would help with the pain in her chest. When she finished the drink Elliott saw Jack smile a little as he was trying to get to them.
Several people tried to stop him to dance but he refused as he made his way to Kay. He then saw Kay look confused and grab her head as she swayed a little.
